This time, I am wearing the other hat, the catering one!

Yesterday, Jackie’s parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a party for friends and family aboard The Havengore. This wonderful wooden boat was made famous when she carried Sir Winston Churchill on his final journey to his burial after the magnificent state funeral.

What a celebration it was. Spirits were certainly high and a sharp shower was no dampener as it was followed by an afternoon of glorious sunshine. Guests boarded at one while Jenni and I were hard at work in the galleys making up canapés for the guests. The really hard work had been done in the company kitchen during the week before though I must not underplay the fact the the choppy water made things a little tricky. Personally I was very pleased that my previously good sea legs had not deserted me! I do fear that Jenni who was assembling the hot food had the short straw as she had heat and a more pronounced roll to deal with.

The crew were so helpful and welcoming, this certainly made our job so much easier.

Jenni and I thoroughly enjoying a large glass of something delicious after our labours. We did put up a fight of course but it would have been so rude to refuse on such an occasion.

What a treat to be able to join the revellers on deck and enjoy the captivating river views and some very jolly chat!
